PEEK is an abbreviation for PolyEtherEther-Ketone, a high performance engineering thermoplastic resin manufactured only by Victrex plc. PEEK grades offer superior chemical and water resistance. This material can be used continuously to 480°F (250°C) and in hot water or steam without permanent loss in physical properties. In fact, PEEK parts consistently exhibit superior performance in a variety of applications requiring low wear, dimensional stability and long life over a wide temperature range.
For hostile environment applications such as oil drilling & exploration or semiconductor manufacturing, PEEK is a high strength alternative to fluoropolymers. PEEK carries a V-0 flammability rating and exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when exposed to flame. And unfilled PEEK is FDA approved, so it can be used in food processing and medical applications.
PEEK properties include excellent temperature resistance, low friction (bearing grades), dimensional stability (glass- and carbon-filled grades), radiation resistance, low outgassing, and exhibits good machinability. PEEK is typically used to manufacture seals, washers and discs, bushings, plungers, electrical and electronic sockets and connectors, and thermal and electrical insulators.
PEEK is available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including PEEK sheets or plaques, PEEK discs, PEEK rods and PEEK tubes of various thicknesses and diameters. PEEK is manufactured as unfilled, bearing, glass- and carbon-filled, and other specialty grades, including a new high temperature (PEEK HT) grade. See our datasheets or call us for more information!
